The celebration began at 5:00 pm with prayers to Datuk Gong 🙏, followed by a buffet dinner at 7:00 pm. 🍽️

YB Dr. Quah Perng Fei celebrates Chinese New Year Event with residents in Tew Seng Keng Temple, Klang

Tew Seng Keng Temple hosted a Chinese New Year cultural charity event themed Golden Snake Brings Blessings, featuring calligraphy, a lion dance eye-dotting ceremony, a Tian Gong Altar paper art workshop, and the distribution of financial aid.

The event drew over a hundred participants, filled the venue with festive red decorations, and a joyful New Year spirit. YB Dr. Quah Perng Fei, the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bandar Baru Klang, officiated the event.

He expressed his joy in celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year alongside the local community amidst a rich traditional cultural atmosphere. The Allway Lion Dance Association (全威龙狮体育会) conducted the lion dance eye-dotting ceremony, symbolizing the start of a prosperous and auspicious new year. The lively lion dance performance showcased the vibrancy of traditional culture and heightened the festive mood. This year’s ceremony featured three newly introduced lions, adding extra cheer and solemnity to the New Year celebration.

Calligraphy Team Writes and Gives Away Couplets On-Site

Renowned calligrapher Zhuang Xiu Li personally wrote auspicious spring couplets and the character “福” for attendees, perfectly blending traditional culture with the festive spirit of the New Year. Zhuang’s team also offered free calligraphy pieces to visitors, spreading blessings through their art.

In addition, the Tian Gong Altar Paper Art Workshop gave participants a hands-on experience in traditional paper crafting, allowing them to gain a better understanding of the meaning behind the Tian Gong Altar culture. Through this interactive activity, participants have learned new skills and experienced the charm and craftsmanship of Chinese tradition.

During the charity segment, the event committee expressed gratitude to Tan Kok Cheong, Cheong Kuan Run, and the Tew Seng Keng Temple committee for their generous donations. The aid was contributed to SJKC Perempuan Klang, SJKC Soo Jin Kapar, and SJKC Pui Ying to support underprivileged students. This student assistance aims to ease their financial burden while encouraging them to value their education and strive for success.

Event coordinator Lin Ai Lin stated that Chinese New Year cultural events are not only a meaningful way to celebrate the festive season but also serve as a means of inheriting Chinese culture and practicing charity. She thanked all supporters and participants for their enthusiasm and contributions, and expressed hope for more events in the future to continue bringing positive energy to the community.

The temple committee is working to turn Tew Seng Keng Temple into an engaging tourist attraction. By developing and promoting tourism projects and organizing more events, they aim to raise greater awareness of the temple.

“We hope to attract more visitors and devotees, bringing economic benefits and development opportunities to the local community. Our aim for Tew Seng Keng Temple is to be a center of religious faith and a hub for cultural exchange and community service.”

With the joint efforts of all members, we believe a brighter future lies ahead, contributing to the continued growth and prosperity of Tew Seng Keng Temple.

 

In addition to celebrating deity birthdays and traditional Chinese festivals, Tew Seng Keng Temple has always been attentive to the needs of society. This includes donations to elderly homes and orphanages, and the establishment of an education fund to support the younger generation.

These traditional activities include Chinese New Year celebrations, the Mid-Autumn Festival, and aid programs for the poor and elderly. The temple also regularly pays attention to the needs of elderly homes and orphanages, providing them with financial support.

Education is one of our key focus areas. In addition to setting up an education fund, we assist Chinese primary schools, contributing to their growth and development.

73rd Anniversary & Deity Birthday Banquet

Klang Teow Seng Keng celebrated its 73rd  Anniversary and the Grand Birthdays of Zhang Gong Sheng Jun and Deities from November 21 to 23, 2024 (Lunar Calendar: 21st to 23rd of the Tenth Month).

All devotees and the public are warmly invited to attend, offer incense, and receive blessings during this auspicious celebration.

The Peace & Blessings Banquet will be held on Saturday, November 30 (7:00 PM) at Imperial Cuisine Restaurant, Klang.

This grand celebration will feature a series of religious rituals, cultural activities, blessing ceremonies, and the special “Bai Jia Mi” (rice from a hundred households) tradition.

Organizing Chairperson Ms. Lim Ai Lin announced the “Blessing Rice Giving” event will begin on November 15. Devotees are welcome to donate edible rice, in any amount—whether a full bag or just a handful—as every contribution symbolizes blessings. Rice donations can be made at Tew Seng Keng temple or Fat Mama GuZaoWei Taste (Bak Kut Teh).

The distribution of “Bai Jia Mi” (rice from hundred household) will take place on November 23 at 8:00 PM, where rice will be given out for devotees to bring home, symbolizing overflowing fortune and abundance. (Limited quantity, one small bag per person.)

She expressed her gratitude to the Klang  Town Residents Association for their strong support in facilitating the success of this meaningful community event.

Attendees at the press conference included Honorary Presidents Mr. Ooi Ah Khau, Mr. Ng Teck Seng, and Mr. Ng Teck Hua, along with Deputy President Mr. Ng Shi Tian, Vice President Mr. Zheng Mu Min, Secretary General Mr. Lin Yong Fu, and Women’s Division Head Ms. Zheng Ming Zhu and among others.

There will also be a festive temple fair with food, drinks, handicrafts, desserts, and specialty goods, offering a delightful culinary and cultural experience for all visitors and devotees.

Other highlight programs include lion dance blessings, a fireworks display, as well as traditional puppet shows and three nights of live band performances.

From November 21 to 23, the temple will conduct a wide array of sacred rituals, including:

巴生张圣宫于 2024年 11月 21日 至 23日 （农历十月廿一至廿三），庆祝肇基发祥73周年暨张公圣君及诸神宝诞千秋，敬希各界善信届时踊跃前往拈香膜拜，同沾福佑。

平安晚宴于11月30日（星期六）晚上7时，在御膳楼大酒家举行。

本次庆典包含丰富的宗教仪式、民俗活动、祈福仪式及特别的“百家米活动”。

筹委会主席林爱琳指出，施米纳福，从11月15日起，欢迎善信自带食用米至张圣宫或卫星市鼎峰肉骨茶进行捐赠，不论一大包或一小撮，皆是福气的象征。

百家米派送，将于11月23日晚上8时开始，分发给善信带回家中，象征福气满溢。（因数量有限，每位民众只限一小袋米）。

她感谢巴生卫星市居民协会鼎力支持，协助推动“百家米活动”顺利开展。

其他节目有醒狮贺寿、烟火表演等还有布袋戏及现场乐团（LiveBand）表演3晚。

72nd Anniversary Grand Birthday Banquet

In celebration of Tew Seng Keng’s 72nd Anniversary and the Grand Birthday of Zhang Gong Sheng Jun and accompanying deities, a Peace & Prosperity Banquet was held, featuring 120 tables. That evening, 9 auspicious items were auctioned off, receiving enthusiastic support from devotees and raising a total of RM80,795.

This marks the first Peace Banquet organized in the new Tew Seng Keng Temple.

To commemorate the completion of the new Tew Seng Keng Temple and the deities’ birthdays, a culinary carnival was recently organized and received an overwhelming response from the devotees. The temple committee hopes to continue this event annually to grow tremendous crowds. This would enhance the temple’s spiritual influence, it aligns with the vision of transforming the temple into a religious tourism destination.

Through the Tourism Council led by Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO) YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, the Selangor government is actively promoting initiatives across the state to boost tourism—including creating food and handicraft streets.

The temple’s efforts resonate with the state’s vision, attracting devotees to visit, take photos, and share their experiences. Recently, a newlywed couple chose the temple for their wedding photoshoot and donated RM8,888 to Tew Seng Keng Temple. A music production firm even selected the temple as a shooting scene for their Chinese New Year album. Devotees are welcome to visit, take photos, and create lasting memories.

Special thanks to renowned calligraphy artist Chung Siew Lee for generously donating her treasured artwork to support the temple’s future development fund. Notably, the bidder who won the evening’s auctioned blessing items received a 4-day, 3-night complimentary stay package—with meals and stay included—at the Won Majestic Hotel in Cambodia.

YB Tuan Ganabatirau: Funding Aims to Unite All Malaysians

Klang MP Tuan Ganabatirau stated that the Pakatan Harapan Government is the first federal administration to provide funds for non-Muslim religious activities. A total of RM50 million was approved to support this initiative, aimed to unite people of all races, rather than divide them. The Selangor government has allocated land to non-Islamic religious organizations, including Chinese temples, Hindu temples, Christian churches, and Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools.

He emphasized that temples are cohesive to Chinese communities and commended Tew Seng Keng’s board of committee members’ efforts in constructing such a magnificent temple upon receiving the land grant from the Selangor government, providing a sacred place of worship for devotees.

Majestic Tew Seng Keng Temple

Tew Seng Keng’s Administrative Advisor and Building Committee Chairman, Khoo Ting Choon 巴生中路张圣宫会务顾问兼建委会主席邱订春, shared that the temple’s grand opening was held on September 3, marking the first time the Peace Banquet was hosted at the new grounds. Brother temples from afar, including Kaohsiung’s Lao Nong Sheng Jun Miao Temple in Taiwan, Penang Jelutong Sam Hai Kong Temple, Penang Gelugor Lian Hua Dian Temple, and other state temples, participated in the celebration, fostering camaraderie and cultural exchange.

Tew Seng Keng temple boasts a majestic exterior, glittering golden interiors, and lifelike deity statues. The committee hopes it will soon become a popular religious tourist attraction in Klang—drawing crowds for both prayers and scenic photo shoots, helping the temple’s spiritual influence flourish.

Event & Celebration Committee Chairperson, Lim Ai Lin, expressed gratitude for the public’s enthusiastic response to the various activities and banquet organized for the grand celebration of Tew Seng Keng’s deities.

甘纳巴迪劳：拨款非穆团结人民

巴生国会议员甘纳巴迪劳致词时指出，团结政府是首个提供非回教事务拨款的联邦政府，政府批准5000万令吉作为上述用途，旨在团结各族人民、而不是分裂彼此的政府，雪州政府也拨出土地给非伊斯兰宗教组织，包括华人神庙、印度庙、基督教堂及华淡小等。

他说，神庙是凝集华人的地方，他赞扬张圣宫理事会，在获得雪州政府拨地后，积极把宏伟堂皇神庙建立起来，让信众有一个殊胜的膜拜场所。

新宫宏伟金碧辉煌 

巴生中路张圣宫会务顾问兼建委会主席邱订春指出，该宫于9月3日落成开幕，第一次举办平安晚宴，安排在新宫庙地举行，获得兄弟庙，远自台湾高雄荖浓圣君庙、槟城顶日落洞网寮山海宫和槟城牛汝莪莲花殿及其他州神庙的理事，参与庆典，互相交流，加强彼此间的关系。

新宫外观宏伟气势，内部金碧辉煌及栩栩如生的神像，希望有一天，成为巴生其中一个著名的宗教旅游胜地，吸引更多人士到来拍照打卡，甚至到来取景，使该宫香火更兴旺。

庆典筹委会主席林爱琳指出，巴生张圣宫神诞庆典的系列活动、平安宴会，获得割接民众积极响应。

Malaysia-Taiwan Divine Brotherhood Sparks a New Chapter in the Development of FaZhuGong

The seeds of this sacred connection were planted as early as last year, when the principal deity of the Lao Nong Sheng Jun Temple in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, decreed a divine will to visit Malaysia and form a spiritual brotherhood with the principal deity of Tew Seng Keng Temple in Klang. This long-awaited moment arrived on 8th April 2018, at 10 a.m., in the modest original temple of Tew Seng Keng in Taman Klang Jaya.

Witnessed by over a hundred devotees and committee members from both sides, a rare spiritual scene unfolded: the deities of the two temples from both countries were formally bonded in divine brotherhood.

Six sacred effigies of FaZhuGong from Lao Nong Sheng Jun Temple were specially enshrined on the main altar of Tew Seng Keng, placed alongside the temple’s resident deities — symbolizing divine presence in unison. According to Datuk Dr. Ng Teck Ho, Tew Seng Keng’s Honorary Life Chairman, this marks the first overseas Taoist delegation in the temple’s 67-year history. It was beyond expectation that the principal deity of Lao Nong Sheng Jun Temple had already issued a divine directive a year before forging this brotherly bond.

Ms. Wu Xiu Hui, Executive Director of the Fujian-Taiwan Fazhugong Faith Association, made this extraordinary event possible. It marked the successful conclusion of a 5 days 4 nights sacred flame mission. The 36-member delegation visited several temples including Thian Hock Keng Temple (Bukit Kuda, Klang), Tian Fu Kong (Kapar, Klang), Chun Hun Keong (Cheras), Yuen Tin Temple (KL), and Tian Hock Kung Temple (Telok Pulai, Klang), before arriving at Tew Seng Keng Temple.

Receiving the Sacred Flame: A Divine Encounter

A particularly awe-inspiring moment occurred when the spirit medium Zhong Rui Rong from Lao Nong Sheng Jun Temple was possessed by Fazhugong immediately upon disembarking in Klang. In a trance, he removed his shoes and shirt, running barefoot toward the temple over 200 meters away, as if pulled by an invisible force.

Upon his arrival, Zhang Sheng Gong’s own medium, Zhang Guan Run, was also possessed. The two spirit mediums — vessels of Fazhugong — bowed to one another and sat face to face. Lao Nong Sheng Jun Temple and Tew Seng Seng’s chairman representatives exchanged sacred scrolls and gifts, after which the deities temporarily withdrew.

Following this, Taoist Priest Pan Ming Xiong led a series of solemn rituals, including inviting the deities, opening the altar, summoning divine troops, and receiving the sacred flame. Each step required three consecutive positive lots (sheng bei) for divine approval, the process taking over an hour. Priest Pan read aloud a prepared memorial to the gods, expressing the intention to form a spiritual brotherhood between the two temples’ deities.

After reading the memorial, incense ashes from Tew Seng Keng’s incense burner were collected and placed in a smaller burner. The sacred fire was then ignited using incense brought from Lao Nong Temple, and placed into the smaller burner encircled by folded gold paper in the shape of a miniature furnace. A single incense stick was inserted into the top, igniting the paper slowly.

As the incense began to burn, the medium of Lao Nong Temple was suddenly possessed again. He entered a trance and the entire small burner burst into vibrant flames. Tew Seng Keng’s medium followed in a trance, and the two deities, once again present, bowed and paid respect, sealing the ritual of the sacred flame and their bond of brotherhood.

Taking the Incense Ashes Back to Taiwan

The ceremony proceeded flawlessly, leaving a lasting impression on Klang’s devotees. The sacred flame ritual, unique to Taiwan’s Fazhugong culture, was especially grand and moving. Before withdrawing, the deity of Lao Nong Sheng Jun Temple instructed the incense ashes collected from Tew Seng Keng Temple must be enshrined back in Taiwan — symbolizing the everlasting bond and shared divine lineage between the two temples.

The Taiwanese delegation also pledged to return for the consecration ceremony of Tew Seng Kengs new temple upon its completion, further strengthening the brotherhood.

Ms. Wu Xiu Hui, who coordinated the event, shared that the visit was timed to coincide with Taiwan’s Qingming Festival holiday. She emphasized the importance of international exchanges in promoting and preserving Fazhugong culture, and saw this event as a bridge between the religious traditions of Malaysia and Taiwan.

Sparks of Brotherhood Between Temples

She deliberately scheduled Tew Seng Keng Temple as the final stop on their journey — the grand finale — to ensure the delegation could relax and truly connect with new friends. Most importantly, they brought back the sacred fire from Tew Seng Keng to enshrine at Lao Nong Sheng Jun Temple, joining the temples in divine light.


As a dedicated devotee and Executive Director of both the Taiwan-Kaohsiung Nanzih District, Sheng Jun Dian Temple, and the cross-strait religious association, Wu has long promoted the culture of Fazhugong across Malaysia, Taiwan, and China. She also revealed that from 9th – 12th May 2018, she would lead another delegation to attend the first Zhang Sheng Zhen Jun Cultural Festival at the ancestral temple in Jinsha, Fuzhou, China, gathering believers from across the three regions.

Tew Seng Keng Chairman Mr. Ng Teck Seng described the visit and rituals by the leaders and representatives of Kaohsiung’s temple as an immense honor. It marked the temple’s first official international religious partnership, and its significance is profound.

This spiritual exchange not only deepened ties between the two temples but a blessing and inspiration for the construction of Tew Seng Keng’s new temple. Through shared faith and collaboration, both temples aim to promote the longevity and prosperity of their religious practices. Plans are already in motion for a return visit to Lao Nong Sheng Jun Temple — where the sparks of divine brotherhood will continue to glow brightly.
